AGEphone Mobile 2 for Windows Mobile released

February 29th, 2008

ageet Corporation, the experienced Japanese producer of VoIP software products such as the Vista Sidebar and Google Sidebar VoIP Gadget “AGEphone Gadget” and possibly the world’s smallest and lightest VoIP engine “microSIP Stack”, today released a completely revised version 2 of “AGEphone Mobile” softphone. This program can be used to make VoIP phone calls on a PDA or Smartphone that is based on Windows Mobile 5.0 (for Pocket PC or Smartphone) or Windows Mobile 6 (Standard or Professional) and utilizes the fully SIP compatible VoIP engine “microSIP Stack” developed by ageet, which is extremely small, fast and therefore suited for mobile devices. AGEphone Mobile 2 has been enhanced to also support keyboard-only control on devices without a touch screen and has been optimized for portrait and landscape mode on a wide range of screen resolutions, so devices such as HTC MTeoR, AT&T 852, Motorola Q9 and many more are capable of taking full advantage of the features the program has to offer.
The dynamic interface went through a major overhaul to guarantee easy and finger-friendly use of the product. Whether AGEphone is installed on a touchscreen device or one limited to keypad input, navigation through the softphone’s GUI is quick and fluid. Context sensitive menus change according to what the program is currently doing, mapping the best action to the soft keys of the device and making it unnecessary to navigate through endless sub-menus. On touchscreen devices, there isn’t much need for a stylus because most of the interactive buttons can be pressed with your finger.

Epson’s P5000 viewer provides a compact high-capacity storage and multimedia-viewing system, which, like its forbear the P4000, combines excellent screen quality, plenty of storage space, ease of use and tough build quality.
And what you get is a tough little device that provides card format compatibility aplenty including SD/SDHC and Multimedia cards (up to 1Gb restriction for the latter), CF Type I/II that, of course, includes Micro Drives. Use of an appropriate adapter means other card formats can be used as well, but these are optional extras of course.
You get some excellent video and audio capabilities (see below) and an excellent LCD screen, a speedy 80-gigabytes of hard drive storage and a rechargeable Li-On battery pack for excellent long life reviewing while on the move.

Connectivity is dealt with by a high-speed USB 2.0 connection, enabling storage and image/video organisation capabilities for both Macs and PC computer platforms. Actually, using the P5000 is intuitive and you can very quickly get to grips with the system.

Sony_Blu-ray_Players_1.jpg

Sony has announced two new Blu-ray players that will be capable of accessing advanced interactive features such as BonusView and BD-Live. The BDP-S350 will feature an Ethernet port, USB port for connecting external storage and “BonusView” picture-in-picture capability. With the BD-Live firmware update and access to Internet-based interactive content features will be easy. The BDP-S550 ships with a 1GB storage device (which probably means that has a flash-based Micro Vault) and will be BD-Live capable right out of the box. But the difference between the two models is that the S550 can decode DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and Master Audio, and has 7.1-channel analog outputs (presumably 5.1 on the S350). Both the players will support 1080/60p and 24p video and can decode Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus. The $400 Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player is slated for a summer release, while the $500 S550 won’t be here until fall.
