Motorola released single mode VoWLAN phone
What you see above is supposed to be Motorola’s ’single mode’ Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) phone. In other words, this phone will let you make calls over a Wi-Fi network. It runs Windows Mobile smartphone edition and in all probability, it won’t have GSM or CDMA connectivity (hence the term single mode). Motorola has categorised it under its EWP series and is expected to be available exclusively in North America. We don’t have any further details on this baby. If you think you do, don’t feel shy and speak up!

Sony Ericsson TM506 now available from T-Mobile
Today T-Mobile USA announced that the Sony Ericsson TM506 is now available for purchase for US$79.99 after a $50 rebate when purchased with a 2 year service agreement. The TM506 is the first Sony Ericsson cellphone to be offered by T-Mobile USA in quite some time, and is also the first ever HSDPA 3G phone that T-Mobile has offered.
T-Mobile is currently in the process of rolling out its 3G network. New York was the first city to see the benefits of the high-speed access, back in May, and Las Vegas users got the green light early last month. The company intends to add at least 20 additional markets to the 3G network before the end of the year.

Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi Available on Select Sony Ericsson Phones
The service isn’t free though like the offering for the iPhone. The Boingo service will cost $7.95 per month with no per-minute or charges per megabyte of data sent or received. The service will be available in Europe as well.
“An increasing number of smartphones with Wi-Fi capability are now available in the market, giving consumers the option to access their favorite phone applications over a fast and inexpensive connection,” said Jonathan Mendelson, general manager of Boingo Mobile. “Sony Ericsson customers can now experience the broadband speed and great online experience provided by Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi.”
Motorola rolls out the MOTOJEWEL for the ladies
Earlier today in the UK, Motorola unveiled its new MOTOJEWEL clamshell handset. Designed specifically with the female fashionista in mind, the MOTOJEWEL comes with its own mini clutch handbag that has just enough room the cellphone, a credit card, and a lipstick - everything a girl would need for a night out on the town, Motorola believes.
The MOTOJEWEL is equipped with a 2 megapixel digital camera and a music player application that will synch easily with Microsoft’s Windows Media Player application on a personal computer. Bluetooth stereo headphone support is also built into this faceted PEBL-like cellphone, for those that prefer their music sans wires.
Best we can tell, the MOTOJEWEL shares much with last year’s U9 handset, including its use of a hidden external display.
The MOTOJEWEL comes with a “midnight quartz” exterior color scheme and has a purple keypad inside. The MOTOJEWEL will be available only for a limited time starting in November, and can be found only at the UK’s Carphone Warehouse retail chain.
LG gives a red update to Keybo
Someone at Telus probably realized that the LG KEYBO’s QWERTY keyboard was a great tool for messaging, and that girls didn’t always like black. In light of that realization, the Canadian CDMA carrier has decided to launch a new color for the KEYBO, namely pomegranate, which looks aimed at the ladies. The specs and price of the pomegranate colored model are the same as the standard black one, with the usual QVGA screen, Bluetooth, music player, GPS, microSD card slot, and will be going for CA$49.99 on a 3-year contract.
LG unveils Viewty successor, the KC910
LG’s new flagship handset has a large 3″ WQVGA (400×240 pixel) touchscreen display that promises to provide users with a high-quality multimedia experience when it comes to both photos and videos. Speaking of video, the KC910 is capable of recording clips with frame rates ranging from 5 to 120 frames per second, meaning that it can make videos that run faster than normal as well as those that slow down fast action to a more easily viewed pace. None of this would be possible, of course, without the KC910’s Schneider-Kreuznach lens equipped camera, which has an effective ISO rating of up to 1600 and is backed up by a true xenon flash.
Other features found on the KC910 include an A-GPS module for navigation as well 3G HSDPA data connections for up to 7.2Mbps of download speed. WiFi is also on board for further data convenience.
LG has said that it will provide further specs, including the cellphone’s “pet name”, in the near future. In any case, LG says that the KC910 will be available for purchase in October of this year.
