ASUS UFOTO UF735 photo viewer works as second monitor
Usually we’re scathing of any digital photo frame that lacks some sort of wireless connectivity here at SlashGear, but ASUS have just sneaked in under the radar thanks to a handy secondary feature on their latest display. Ostensibly a normal 7-inch photo viewer, the UFOTO UF735 has an 800 x 480 display, 128MB of internal storage and the usual bevy of CF/SD/MMC/MS/xD card readers and USB flash drive compatibility. What stands out, though, is the ability to plug the display into a PC, via USB, and use it as a standalone sub-screen.

USB over Network Remotely Controls Devices from Virtual Machine or Internet
Of all the choices USB devices can be shared among PCs (and Macs), every solution so far requires a peripheral sharing device such as Belkin USB Network Hub and IOGear USB Net ShareStation. These USB servers work great as long as everyone who lends out and borrows the hardware belongs in the same local network.
If you want to remotely control the peripherals over the Internet or from a local virtual machine, USB over Network is the one to answer the call. The software-based solution comprising of the server-side and client-side software can provide worldwide access to every USB device plugged into your PC. FabulaTech’s USB over Network appears to be targeting at some very specific market. It’s either that or their case studies are covering niche applications. Interested OEMs can also adopt USB over Network into their products through FabulaTech’s royalty-free program. For end users, the cost is somewhat high at $129.95 for sharing 1 USB device; $199.95 for 2; $299.95 for 4; and up to $2499.95 for sharing 64 devices.
Mio unveils GPS phones with iPhone influence
Mio today chose Computex as the venue to launch three new GPS devices, two of which push the company further into the smartphone market. The pictured Leap G50 is Mio’s first Windows Mobile 6.1 device and uses an iPhone-like design with a chrome bezel focused around its touchscreen: only a scroll strip and call buttons interrupt the front face. The phone keeps to Mio’s emphasis on navigation with the company’s MioMap 2008 mapping software onboard. A 2-megapixel camera is onboard and can be used to geotag photos thanks to the GPS hardware.
The G50 is built for a worldwide release and supports quad-band GSM calling as well as EDGE data, making it useful with both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US. An Asian launch has been set for the summer, though other releases are likely to follow.

Kodak EasyShare M1033
After lagging behind its competitors for the last few years, Kodak is poised for a comeback with its new EasyShare M1033 ($199.95 direct), a simple camera that boasts a generous feature set. The 10-megapixel M1033 adds style, comes in six colors, and is easy enough for any beginning photographer. It even offers 720p resolution HD video capabilities. Although it’s not quite on a par with Canon’s high-quality cameras, the M1033 is certainly an affordable alternative.
At 5.12 ounces, the M1033 is lightweight and small enough to fit into a pocket but feels solid at the same time. Its big, bright 3-inch LCD screen makes framing shots easy, and to my amazement I found it viewable even in direct sunlight. This is especially important because the camera lacks an optical viewfinder.
