Sony Ericsson’s Z780, which was announced earlier this year, has recently passed through the FCC with AT&T branding. The clamshell handset supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and tri-band WCDMA (850/1900/2100MHz) for the world traveler, and also sports a built-in A-GPS receiver.

The Z780’s large 2.2″ QVGA display should make using the preinstalled Google Maps application a pleasant experience, and stereo Bluetooth support is paired with a Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot for extra storage. The Sony Ericsson Z780 should be available in a silver color scheme, with onyx black or amethyst purple accents.
